The small world.

Very big.

Volker Daniel loves the playful and free spirit of the little Matchbox cars. He still has vivid memories of the 1/64 scale cars and how, as a young boy, he acquired a vision of access to the big world by buying the small replicas in cardboard boxes for his pocket money. Many years later, he amassed a huge collection through flea market visits with his own children.

The idea of creating images from them is based on the joy of creative work.

As an architect and photographer, Volker Daniel is constantly searching for design. Using formations and artificial light, he creates graphic compositions—sometimes meticulously detailed, sometimes perspective-oriented, sometimes strictly structured. Sharpness and blur create a sense of lightness. Sometimes it's unclear whether the subject is a toy, and sometimes a structure appears entirely artificial. The result is moods, colorful compositions with disruptions and harmonies.

After a career in craftsmanship and gastronomy, Volker Daniel studied architecture. His second passion, photography, was architecture for a long time before he expanded his real estate to include mobile photography. Matchbox cars are his pure artistic expression.
