David Tollmann

OUR COURSES

3rd generation artist.

You could say he was born with talent. He is the son of the artist Markus Tollmann and the grandson of the art professor and renowned artist Günter Tollmann. But David Tollmann's art makes him so much more than just the third in a dynasty of artists.

He presents his complex world of ideas in large-format and highly colorful works. The works are intense and emotionally overwhelming in their effect – some full of profound metaphors, far removed from the viewer's everyday life.

David Tollmann, born in 1988 in the tranquil town of Sulingen in Lower Saxony and raised in Nienburg an der Weser, is undoubtedly an exceptional talent who plays a prominent role in the art scene.

Through his family's connection to artists such as Joseph Beuys, Pablo Picasso, Yves Klein, Niki de Saint Phalle, and Günther Uecker, he grew up in an atmosphere of creative exchange and inspiring influences. He spent his childhood in the home of his stepfather, Joachim Henne, who became a true father to him. According to his own account, he taught David how to lead a decent life and raised him as his own son. Here, too, he was always surrounded by culture and art.

His artistic journey began as a child, but not directly. After years of painting, working in the restaurant industry, and training as a chef, he dared to change careers and immersed himself fully in the world of art in 2014.

He has found his own unique voice as a modern artist, defined by a distinctive fusion of expression, color and emotion.
